It was a sad day when Tina Turner died on May 24, 2023. But, it gives us a chance to look at an inheritance in real time.
Tina Turner knew for some years that she was suffering from life threatening illnesses, including high blood pressure, kidney damage, and intestinal cancer. She also had a stroke in 2013. It makes us happy to report that she thought ahead and had her estate documents drafted in 2021. This is not to say that she didn’t have documents prior to then.
So, who will inherit Turner’s reported $250 million estate? As of now, we’re not sure. It’s very likely that it will be divided between her husband, Erwin Bach, and her children and grandchildren. Tina had two biological sons and adopted two of her ex-husband Ike Turner’s sons. However, two of these children predeceased her and the other two have been estranged. She also had two grandchildren and five great grandchildren, although she reportedly never met any of them.
As far as music catalogue, that’s already been taken care of; it was sold to BMG for $50 million.
It likely will take a few months for her Will to be released to the public. Although, since the singer passed in Switzerland, Swiss law does not state that this has to happen.
