Last week we did
Notorious BIG. To finish up our trilogy, this week we’re looking at the estate plan of the notorious RBG.
As a Supreme Court Justice, you might assume that Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s estate plan was set up correctly with no loopholes. And from what we know of her estate so far, it looks like you’d be correct. There is very little information that has been released, likely due to the fact that most of her property was held in Trusts.
TMZ was able to access a copy of her Will less than a year after her death in 2020. Her estate was worth between $5.5 and $6 million, including personal possessions valued at $250,000.
The majority of her money was split between her two children. However, she also left $40,000 to Elizabeth Salas, her long term housekeeper. Historically, money left to the housekeeper is a red flag, but in this case it seems to be legitimate. Salas even sat beside President Biden while Ginsburg was lying in state, so it seems like this was a legitimately close relationship.
And that’s about it. No lawsuits, no undue arguing among family members, just a simple probate like we all want to have. Which is good – if a Supreme Court Justice were to have a messy estate plan, what hope would there be for the rest of us?
