Celebrity Estate Lessons - Jim Morrison

Jim Morrison album cover concept

Estate planning is hard. There are a lot of things you have to plan for that you may never have given a thought! Take Jim Morrison. When the lead singer of the Doors died in 1971, he had a simple will leaving everything to his girlfriend, or to his siblings if he outlived her.

She died three years later without a will. Because of how the will was written, his assets, including 25% interest in the Doors and the rights to his image, passed to HER parents who were free to do whatever they wanted with them.

Was this what Morrison wanted done with his estate? It's impossible to know, but in the end it doesn't matter.

Don't worry, there are ways to plan to make sure your estate ends up exactly how you want it to, and we have a lot of experience doing just that! Contact Harrison Estate Law, P.A. to learn more.
