Celebrity Estate Lessons - Ike Turner

Tina Turner portrait concept

Ike Turner had been married fourteen times according to Ike himself when he died in 2007. With all those women in his life, it's a little surprising that only one of his ex-wives came forward wanting a cut of his estate. And no, it wasn't Tina.

Ike hadn't written a Will so there was the potential that many more of his exes could have made a claim. In this case, though, only his most recent one, Audrey Madison Turner. Audrey and Ike were married for two months in 2006. After the divorce was finalized, they reconciled in 2007 but didn't remarry.

With so many marriages it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Ike had six children. Upon Ike's death Judge Richard Cline ruled that, due to a lack of Will, his children would split the inheritance. Before this was finalized, Audrey came forward stating that she had a handwritten Will leaving everything to her. Not to be outdone, Ike's longtime friend James Clayton came forward with a similar claim.

In an unusual turn of events, the Judge ruled that both Wills were valid. However, Audrey's Will was written after James', so his was nullified. Ike then wrote a document nullifying Audrey's Will. He then went back to essentially not having a Will at all, so his money was split among his children. Contact Harrison Estate Law, P.A. to help with your estate planning.
